KIROV 1 G.CH.Z – Soviet Legend Comeback is a mechanical automatic watch inspired by one of the earliest Soviet military wristwatch concepts developed in the 1940s, combining historical engineering identity with modern refinement.
HISTORY
The First State Watch Factory in Moscow was founded in 1930 after the acquisition of the Ansonia Clock Factory and Dueber Hampden Watch & Co., along with 21 former employees. Initially focused on pocket watches, the factory achieved its first production series in the early 1930s with fully in-house manufactured components.
By 1935, the factory was renamed after Sergey Kirov, becoming known as “1 G.CH.Z Kirov”. The watches produced there carried his name.
According to legend, before World War II, the Red Army urgently required a wristwatch. The factory, which only produced pocket watches at the time, was ordered to deliver a solution within three days. Engineers created a practical adaptation by attaching a robust bracelet holder to a pocket watch case, forming the first Soviet military wristwatch concept.
